About the topic
The Developer Red Tree has now obtained planning permission for 5,500 houses for 12,000 people in one of the largest housing developments for many years. This is a confusing situation, in that three councils are involved; Plymouth City Council, South Hams and West Devon District councils, not to mention other Authorities which will have to undertake extensive modification to the A38 and the Eastern approaches to Plymouth.
CPRE Devon has always questioned the need for such a large satellite town to the East of Plymouth which, with such a low target for rural affordable housing, perhaps no more than 17.5%, will do nothing for the real needs of the local community.Sherford Housing Development Site, East Sherford Cross To Wollaton Cross Zc4, Brixton, Devon – 0356/17/SCOEnviromental Impact Assessment Scoping Request for proposed development comprises Section 73 application to previously consented application for 5,500 dwellings, 67,00 commercial and business space, 16,740sqm mixed-use retail space, 3 primary schools, a secondary school, health centre, open space including community park and Park and Ride facility
