Monday 31st July 2017. Our AGM, Illustrated Talk, and Cream Tea!

Thank you to all our members who joined us at Hatherleigh Community Centre on Monday 31st July 2017 for our AGM. The meeting room was full to capacity and it was great to see so many members from right across Devon.

Branch Chairman, Rosemary Jessel, opened the meeting and our President, Sir Simon Day, chaired the meeting. We were pleased that members approved the passing of the three resolutions, as outlined on the agenda, in order for us to move to become a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) and we will now be able to proceed with the next stage in the process and submit the documentation to the Charity Commission for their approval.

We enjoyed a fascinating talk by Professor Nick Groom entitled ‘I long for Soft English Rain’. As well as being Professor of English Literature at Exeter University, he is a critically acclaimed author, and we are very grateful to him that he was able to join us.

The afternoon ended in fine tradition with a Devon cream tea, enjoyed by all!
