Beacon Solar – a 2,700 acre Mega Solar site coming to Devon?

The plan to cover 2,700 acres (more than 4 square miles) of Devon farmland in the heart of the countryside at Holsworthy Beacon with solar panels and batteries would be one of the largest solar farms in Europe, if built.

As a ‘Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project’, the plan will not be approved by the local community or its elected councillors; it will be approved only by the government. Unless we all, across Devon and beyond, tell the government that enough is enough. This is a massive project that is not needed to meet Net Zero targets, but is designed to make huge profits for investors at the expense of our landscape and farmland.

Come and hear about the proposed development, and tell us what you think about it, and what we should tell the government, who will make the decision on whether this goes ahead, at a PUBLIC MEETING AT HOLSWORTHY MEMORIAL HALL 11.30am Friday 31 October 2025 with the Rt Hon Sir Geoffrey Cox KC MP

To book your place at the meeting, call us on 01392 966737 or email director@cpredevon.org.uk

Despite numerous objections, including our own, North Devon District Council planning committee have permitted this major development at Brynsworthy, on the edge of Barnstaple.
