South West Devon New Housing Seminar – 8th February 2019

Is the scale of housing development right for South West Devon?
South West Devon’s Real Housing Need seminar.

Have you noticed how many new houses are being built in Devon? And how many are being built in South West Devon? In Tavistock and Okehampton? Do we need so many? What is the genuine underlying need?

To objectively assess the situation, we commissioned an independent study undertaken by a leading research firm, ORS, (Opinion Research Services) and the evidence-based findings are produced in a comprehensive report, launched in October last year and summarised at this seminar. This research cuts a swathe through official figures and reveals the truth about the real housing need.

Please join us at our special seminar on 8th February 2019 10am-1pm. At The Bedford Hotel, Plymouth Road, TAVISTOCK.

Speakers: Tom Jones, Head of Place Making, South Hams District Council/West Devon Borough Council.
Dr Phillip Bratby – Devon Housing Need Report – Summary of key findings.

Braunton, North Devon solar farm permitted

We are completely dismayed that North Devon District Council has permitted a 108-acre solar farm in Braunton without even a planning committee debate. Our response to Marlcombe in East Devon not making the Government’s New Town shortlist

The government’s announcement this week that the proposed new town of Marlcombe in East Devon is not on its shortlist of those likely to proceed will come as a big relief to the local community, which has long opposed the controversial scheme. Devon CPRE has always been concerned about the loss of some 500 hectares, primarily farmland and some ancient woodland, arguing that we need
