War Horse author Michael Morpurgo slams plans for 250ft wind turbine in book’s real life setting
The author of international bestseller “War Horse” has slammed plans to build a 250ft wind turbine at the real life setting of his famous book.
Celebrated writer Michael Morpurgo says he “vehemently opposes” the proposed tower in Okement Valley – which he describes as an “oasis of peace and wonder”.
The rural idyll was the setting for Morpurgo’s First World War epic War Horse, which spawned a hit stage play and a Hollywood blockbuster directed by Steven Spielberg.
But developers want to install a giant turbine on Bryony Hill Farm, nestled between the villages of Winkleigh and Iddesleigh in Devon where Mr Morpurgo lives.
